"We are pleased to partner with such a prestigious and impactful event that focuses on fine wines and delectable cuisines that will satisfy the taste palettes of all. We look forward to our participation and the opportunity share Publix' quality products and services our customers continue to enjoy," said Tana Welch, regional director.
The 2015 festival moved to one of Hilton Head’s most storied communities, The Sea Pines Resort. Sea Pines plays host to the RBC Heritage and secured the rights to host the wine festival last year. The festival begins with an event where hundreds of wines are judged, all to create scholarship opportunities for Lowcountry students.
“We’re excited to announce our new partnership with Publix,” said Jeff Gerber, festival director. “Publix regional presence and commitment to culinary excellence creates a great opportunity to reach a growing number of wine enthusiasts throughout the region.”
The Hilton Head Island Wine and Food Festival will be held Monday March 7th through Sunday, March 13th at The Sea Pines Resort. The festival’s weeklong wine celebration will feature world-class vineyards, wine events and wine dinners prepared by Lowcounty chefs. Festivities include a seminar on wine pairings, impact of glass selection on wine, a winemaker for the day event, a visit with Rudy Buratti, the head wine maker for Castello Banfi - all leading to The Grand Tasting on Friday, March 11th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Winebibbers and experts will gather for Saturday’s Public Tasting at the Harbour Town Yacht Basin coupled with some of the Lowcountry’s best cuisine. Gates will open at 11:00 a.m. and the tasting will commence from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. as attendees enjoy the last major event for the week with outstanding wines and gourmet cooking demos by local chefs at the Sysco Outdoor Gourmet pavilion under the majestic live oaks of Harbour Town.
